ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - RETAIL AGENCY

Overview

Grice Collins Long (GCL) is an established and highly successful practice of Chartered Surveyors with offices in Hertfordshire and Nottingham. We specialise in food & beverage, travel locations and retail including shopping centres, high streets and out of town locations. We advise on all aspects of asset management, leasing and acquisitions, professional services and property management.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join a growing team of dedicated colleagues who deliver the highest level of expertise and service to our clients. Reporting to the Head of Retail Agency, this agency led role will involve dealing directly with retail lettings, acquisitions and professional work on portfolios ranging from high street and shopping centres to smaller commercial properties as well as motorway service areas and roadside developments located throughout the UK.

Depending on experience, the successful candidate will join at Associate Director level and will have a real opportunity to progress quickly within a growing company. The role will be based in either our Baldock or Nottingham office, with the option of a hybrid working schedule to incorporate some remote working.

Job Specification

Retail Agency and AcquisitionsCoordinate the marketing and letting of available units including preparing particulars, conducting inspections, meeting with potential tenants and devising marketing initiatives.

Monitor current tenant line ups to identify potential weaknesses and proactively develop and deliver solutions.

Identify and propose sites for retained tenant clients and oversee the acquisition process.

Regularly update the Head of Retail Agency on marketing and letting progress.

Prepare case studies for the company’s website and LinkedIn account following successful acquisitions and disposals.

Research the retail market and current operators, with a particular focus on the Food and Beverage sector and Convenience sector.  
Asset Management Professional ServicesOversee asset management initiatives including regears, surrenders and lease advisory work.

Deal with solicitors on the progress of asset management initiatives.

Carry out and ensure swift execution of rent reviews and lease renewals.  
Client RelationsReport directly to clients on letting and asset management initiatives and provide regular updates via e-mail, telephone and face to face meetings.

Proactively develop client relationships to retain existing clients and secure additional business.

Implement initiatives to acquire new clients.

Attend regular letting, asset management and property meetings.  
LeadershipManage junior staff members.

Provide APC support to members of the company in training for their professional qualifications.

Grow the retail Agency team.  

Person Specification

QualificationsChartered Surveyor   
ExperienceA minimum of 3 years post qualification experience with progressive levels of responsibility.

Existing relationships with major landlords/developers and tenants.  
Existing and transferable book of work.
KnowledgeCommercial leases. 

The Landlord & Tenant Act 1954. 

UK retail agency market.  
 
Skills & AbilitiesMicrosoft Office.

Attention to detail and organisation.

Ability to manage multiple clients.

Well-developed communication Skills.

Negotiation Skills.

Experience working in and across teams.

Demonstrated use of remote conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Teams.  
Monday.com or similar workflow software.  

Package

Salary and BenefitsBetween £50,000 - £60,000 per annum Dependent upon experience plus a generous commission and bonus structure.

Car Allowance up to £5,000.

Minimum pension contribution in line with the Pensions Regulator – currently 5% employee contribution and 3% employer contribution.  
LeaveStarting at 25 days annual leave plus recognised English Bank Holidays (normally eight per year).
Four o’clock release on Fridays.
Office closure between Christmas and New Year.
